Our Foundation Stage

The school offers an innovative international curriculum, based on the English system, but tailored to the needs of Ethiopian and expatriate students. In the early years, the school follows an adapted version of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The approach provides continuous provision, is play-based and child-centred, providing stimulating opportunities to explore, question, experiment and enjoy.

The curriculum gives our students access to a broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for solid future progress through school and life. Through exploration, constructive and creative play as well as conversations, story, and song each young learner develops a positive self-concept, along with socialization and readiness skills for a happy and successful school experience. Integral to this balance is an ethos, which respects each child as an individual and which values child’s efforts, interests, and purposes as instrumental to successful learning.

Students in Foundation Stage receive Amharic /Afan Oromo lessons where they are introduced to everyday words and phrases though play, song, rhyme and pictures.
