About Us

Chairman’s Welcome

‍Welcome to Cambridge Academy Ethiopia.

‍It is with great pride and deep appreciation that I extend a heartfelt welcome to all who visit our school — a vibrant and dynamic learning community that spans Early Years, Primary, and Secondary education.

‍At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we are home to over 1,000 students, supported by a dedicated team of more than 135 educators and professionals, and a deeply involved parent community of approximately 1,400. Together, we form a close-knit family of curious learners, committed teachers, collaborative partners, and global citizens.

‍Our vision reaches beyond the borders of Ethiopia. As one of the nation’s leading private educational institutions, Cambridge Academy Ethiopia attracts students and staff from across Ethiopia, the African continent, and around the world. We proudly deliver the National Curriculum for England — a curriculum renowned for its academic rigour and international relevance — guiding students from their earliest years through to A Levels.

‍At the heart of our mission is a commitment to developing the leaders of tomorrow — whether they aspire to be entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, diplomats, innovators, or changemakers. Our graduates leave Cambridge Academy Ethiopia not only prepared for academic success but equipped with the character, confidence, and global perspective needed to thrive in a complex and evolving world.

‍To our current families, staff, and students: thank you for your trust and partnership. And to those considering joining our community — whether as a student, parent, or member of staff — we warmly invite you to explore what makes Cambridge Academy Ethiopia a truly exceptional place to learn and grow.

‍We are proud of our achievements and excited for the possibilities ahead. I invite you to be a part of this remarkable journey.

With warmest regards,

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we are proud to stand apart — not only for the quality of our education but for the values that define us. Our unwavering commitment to Integrity, Leadership, Success, and Lifelong Learning forms the foundation of everything we do. These four pillars shape our culture, guide our decisions, and inspire our students to become confident, ethical, and impactful global citizens.

Integrity is at the heart of our school community.
We believe in doing what is right — even when no one is watching. We foster a culture of honesty, transparency, and accountability, where students and staff are held to the highest ethical standards. By modelling strong moral character and principled decision-making, we instil in our students a lifelong commitment to integrity, both in school and beyond.

Leadership is embedded in our DNA.
We believe every student has the potential to lead — in the classroom, in their communities, and in the world. Through structured leadership programmes, extracurricular activities, and service-learning initiatives, we nurture the skills, confidence, and character students need to take initiative, inspire others, and make a meaningful difference.

Success is more than academic achievement — it's a mindset.
At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we define success holistically: as the ability to set goals, overcome challenges, and grow into one’s full potential. Whether our graduates choose to pursue university, launch their own ventures, or explore new pathways, they leave us with the resilience, skills, and determination to thrive in all areas of life.

Lifelong Learning is the spirit that drives us.
In an ever-evolving world, the ability to adapt and learn is essential. Our rigorous academic programmes, inquiry-based learning environments, and commitment to innovation encourage intellectual curiosity and creative thinking. We equip students not just to pass exams — but to remain curious, thoughtful learners for life.

At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we don’t just prepare students for academic success. We prepare them for life — as principled leaders, forward-thinking innovators, and engaged global citizens. These are the values that set us apart — and the promise we make to every learner who walks through our doors.

At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we believe that the strength of a school lies in its people — the students who learn, the parents who support, and the educators who inspire. Together, we form a vibrant, purpose-driven community committed to excellence, integrity, and growth.

Our Students: Inspired to Learn, Prepared to Lead

Our students are the heart of everything we do. They are encouraged to explore, question, create, and grow in an environment that challenges them to reach their full potential — both academically and personally. Through our holistic and inquiry-based approach, we nurture young individuals who are:

Valued – Their insights, concerns, and feedback are welcomed and respected.

Well-informed – Regularly updated on their child’s learning and school events through open communication.

Proud – Confident in the quality of education their children receive and the values we uphold.

Happy – Reassured by a safe, caring environment where their children are known and supported.

OUR PROMISE TO PARENTS

At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we recognise that when you entrust us with your child, you are placing in our care what matters most to you. We hold that trust with the utmost respect and take our responsibility with deep seriousness and pride.

Our promise is simple, yet profound: to provide every child who walks through our doors with a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where they are inspired to learn, grow, and thrive.

We are committed to delivering a world-class education that challenges and engages students through a curriculum that builds critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication — the essential skills for success in the 21st century. Our passionate and highly qualified educators are dedicated not only to their subject areas, but to the success and wellbeing of each individual student in their care.

At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we celebrate the uniqueness of every learner. We understand that each child has their own strengths, interests, and learning styles, and we tailor our approach to ensure they are empowered to reach their full potential. We embrace diversity and foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and belonging — where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.

We believe education is a partnership between school and home. We work closely with parents to understand their child’s goals, needs, and progress, maintaining open, honest communication every step of the way. Together, we shape a learning experience that supports not only academic achievement, but the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of each child.

Beyond the classroom, our students benefit from a wide range of extracurricular opportunities — including sports, arts, leadership programmes, and community engagement — all designed to nurture well-rounded, confident individuals.

Above all, we are committed to creating a nurturing environment where every child feels supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed. Education is a lifelong journey, and our role is to prepare students to walk that path with integrity, compassion, and purpose — as capable, responsible, and globally minded citizens.

We welcome your partnership, value your input, and look forward to working together to give your child the very best start in life.

Governance

The Role of the Board of Trustees

At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we are guided by a dedicated Board of Trustees that holds overall responsibility for the school’s strategic direction, long-term sustainability, and overall success. While the day-to-day management of the school is entrusted to the Principal and leadership team, the Board sets the vision and educational philosophy that shapes the future of Cambridge Academy Ethiopia.

Comprised of local and international experts in education, business, and community leadership, the Board of Trustees ensures that the academic, financial, and operational performance of the school reflects the highest standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities of the Board of Trustees

  • Vision and Strategy: The Board defines and maintains the long-term vision, mission, and values of Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, ensuring the school remains aligned with its goals and aspirations.
  • Educational Oversight: It holds the school accountable for delivering exceptional education, supporting both academic performance and student wellbeing.
  • Financial Stewardship: The Board approves the school’s budget and oversees its responsible management by the Principal and senior leadership.
  • Community Engagement: Trustees play an active role in promoting Cambridge Academy Ethiopia’s values and reputation within the local and international community.
  • Sustainability and Growth: The Board safeguards the future of the school, balancing ambition with responsible planning and governance.
  • Monitoring and Accountability: Trustees meet twice per term to receive detailed reports from the Principal, review progress against the school development plan, and engage in informed, constructive dialogue to guide future initiatives.

Engagement and Visibility

Board members are encouraged to build a strong connection with the school by attending events, participating in visits, and meeting with staff and students. This hands-on approach strengthens oversight and ensures decisions are made with insight and context.

Mutual Expectations and Responsibilities

The Board expects the school to:

  • Understand and respect the governance structure and the role of the Board.
  • Share in the collective commitment to educational excellence for all students.
  • Recognise and value the diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives of Board members.
  • Communicate clearly and openly, providing concise, relevant information to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to the induction, training, and development of trustees.
  • Minimise the use of technical jargon where possible, or explain it clearly when necessary.

The School Owner expects individual trustees to:

  • Add meaningful value to the governance and direction of the school.
  • Offer constructive challenge in meetings while maintaining professionalism and discretion in public.
  • Come to meetings prepared and informed, having reviewed all materials in advance.
  • Attend meetings regularly and engage actively.
  • Champion the school within the community and among parents.
  • Respect the collective role of the Board and uphold confidentiality at all times.
  • Commit to ongoing personal development and training as trustees.

The School expects that the Board of Trustees will:

  • Respect the professional expertise and judgment of the Principal and staff.
  • Collaborate in a spirit of partnership to advance the school’s mission and support students’ best interests.
  • Demonstrate commitment and integrity, both individually and as a collective.
  • Make decisions that serve the needs of the entire school community, free from personal or group agendas.
  • Promote the school positively among parents, the wider community, and stakeholders.
  • Support continuous learning through trustee induction and ongoing development opportunities.

A Shared Commitment

The partnership between the Board of Trustees and the school leadership is built on trust, transparency, and a shared belief in the transformative power of education. Together, we are committed to sustaining Cambridge Academy Ethiopia as a beacon of excellence — empowering students to succeed and lead in Ethiopia, across Africa, and around the world.

Accreditation

Accreditation & Curriculum Excellence

At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we are committed to delivering a world-class education grounded in globally recognised standards. Accreditation plays a vital role in our pursuit of academic excellence, ensuring our students receive an education that meets international benchmarks and prepares them for future success — wherever their journey may lead.

Licensed and Globally Aligned

Cambridge Academy Ethiopia is fully licensed by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education to operate as a British curriculum international school. Like many of the leading international schools around the world, Cambridge Academy Ethiopia follows the National Curriculum for England — widely celebrated for its academic rigour, broad subject coverage, and balanced approach to student development.

Our academic journey begins with children as young as age 3, who follow the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This well-structured framework nurtures essential early learning and development, forming the foundation for lifelong learning. Our early years are referred to as FS1 and FS2, in keeping with the UK system.

‍From the age of 5, students transition into the National Curriculum for England, where they are guided through a progression of learning outcomes tailored to their age and stage. Our teachers plan lessons aligned with these outcomes to ensure each child achieves — and often exceeds — age-related expectations.

‍Pearson Edexcel Accreditation

‍Cambridge Academy Ethiopia is proud to be fully accredited by Pearson Edexcel, one of the UK’s most prestigious and trusted examination boards. In the UK, accreditation is a rigorous and highly regulated process — Pearson is one of only five organisations authorised by the British government to offer GCSEs and A Levels within UK and international schools.

‍Pearson Edexcel is a global leader in education, and its qualifications are recognised by top universities and employers worldwide. Their programmes are especially supportive of international students and learners for whom English is a second language, offering clear, flexible assessment approaches that ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Why We Chose Pearson

International British curriculum schools are typically accredited by either Pearson or Cambridge International, both of which are globally respected. At Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, we have chosen Pearson Edexcel as our accreditation partner because we believe it offers the best balance of academic challenge, flexibility, and learner support.

Pearson’s iGCSE (International GCSE) courses are renowned for nurturing critical thinking, subject mastery, and practical application. These qualifications go beyond rote memorisation — students develop skills in problem solving, independent inquiry, collaboration, and effective communication.

Pathway to Global Success

Students at Cambridge Academy Ethiopia begin preparing for their iGCSE qualifications in Year 10, with formal examinations taking place at the end of Year 11. From there, they advance to A Level studies, a two-year programme culminating in internationally recognised qualifications by the time they graduate at age 18.

These qualifications are highly regarded by leading universities and institutions across the globe. With a CAE education backed by Pearson Edexcel accreditation, our graduates are equipped not only with outstanding academic credentials, but also with the confidence, skills, and global outlook needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
